Prague has  100 streams with a total length of 364 km. Of that, 142 km belong to the large streams (Botič, Dalejský, Kunratický, Litovicko-Šárecký, Lipanský, Rokytka and Říčanka) and 222 km to smaller streams and brooks.

The City of Prague, represented by the Environmental Protection Department of Prague City Hall, manages them and funds their maintenance. Lesy hl. m. Prahy carry out the administration and the maintenance itself:

  • 319 km of streams within Prague and 6 km beyond the city boundary (the Litovicko-Šárecký stream from the Litovice pond to the Jiviny reservoir, and the Vestecký stream),
  • 24 km of mill races, outfalls and parallel stream channels, and roughly 120 ha of related green space.

Lesy hl. m. Prahy also issue the watercourse administrator’s opinions on behalf of the City of Prague.

The most important Prague streams are Botič, Dalejský potok, Drahaňský potok, Kunratický potok, Litovicko-Šárecký potok, Motolský potok and Rokytka.

The restoration of streams owned by the City is covered by the Prague City Hall project „Streams for life”.
