A well-known date from the Hussite wars \u2014 14 July 1420 \u2014 together with the National Memorial makes V\u00edtkov an important point in our history. Its recreational role should not be overlooked either: there are playgrounds here and its paths are much used by sportspeople \u2014 you will always meet a runner or a cyclist. The park covers more than 30 hectares.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">V\u00edtkov offers fine views of Prague, especially of nearby \u017di\u017ekov and Karl\u00edn, and the lawns invite you to sit down and picnic. The northern slopes were once covered by forest, later replaced by vineyards; after the Hussite wars, however, the slopes were left bare.
