Its history goes back to 1268 and the reign of P\u0159emysl Otakar II. A whole line of Czech rulers took turns as its owner, and the importance of the place is shown by the fact that in various property transfers it was usually left out of the inventory and mostly remained in the sovereign&#8217;s hands. It has been open to the public since 1804.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With an area of over 90 hectares and a mix of lawns, tree stands and paved surfaces, the park offers Prague residents and all other visitors an excellent place to relax. It is enormously popular: up to 4 million people visit each year, on skates, with a pram, by bike and otherwise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The park is also notable for the composition of its trees \u2014 many interesting species grow here (<em>Ginkgo biloba<\/em>&nbsp;\u2013 maidenhair tree,&nbsp;<em>Quercus alba<\/em>&nbsp;\u2013 white oak, various ornamental cherries and so on), which are worth getting to know and which delight with their colours both in blossom and in the autumn.
