The Hostivař dam lies on the middle section of the Botič stream and was built between 1959 and 1963. It is a Category II water structure. The main purposes of the Hostivař reservoir are, in order of importance — see the Operating and Manipulation Rules

- recreation,
- attenuation of flood flows,
- balancing out fluctuations in outflow when the water level changes,
- sport fishing.
